The rescue sled can be converted for summertime use by putting wheels on it. At this time the department does not have this capability. We are currently studying the feasibility of outfitting this sled with wheels and obtaining an ATV for use in the summertime. |

The Mayfield Fire Department has a rescue snow mobile, tow behind rescue
sled, and trailer. This equipment is used by the Mayfield Fire Department
to rescue hikers, cross country skiers, and other winter time outdoor
enthusiasts. This sled is routinely used in mutual aid situations as it is
the only one in the area. The snowmobile is a 1998 Polaris 2 passenger
sled. The rescue sled is large enough that a patient can be placed on a
back board and laid in the passenger compartment. There is also a seat
where an EMT can sit to observe the patient while they are being transported.
